Texas Judge Preparing For 'Civil War' If Obama Re-Elected...

LUBBOCK (CBSDFW.COM) - A Texas leader is warning of what he calls a ?civil war? and possible invasion of United Nations troops if President Barack Obama is re-elected.

Lubbock County Judge Tom Head is convinced that Mr. Obama winning a second term would lead to a revolt by the American people and he?s is pushing a tax increase for the district attorney?s office and the Lubbock County Sheriff?s Office. He says the money is needed to ?beef up? it?s resources in case President Obama wins the November election.

In the event of civil unrest Judge Head said he?s concerned the President would hand over sovereignty of the United States to the U.N. and that the American public would react violently.

?He?s going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the U.S. to the United Nations, what?s going to happen when that happens?? Judge Head told FOX 34 in Lubbock.

?I?m thinking worse case scenario,? Judge Head explained. ?Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe?we?re not just talking a few riots or demonstrations.?

The West Texas judge?s proposed tax increase is to help the sheriff?s office hire a law enforcement large enough to protect the county and to drive away the invaders.

?I don?t want rookies,? Head said flatly. ?I want trained, equip and seasoned veteran officers to back me.?

The republican judge said that he himself will meet the enemy, ?in front of their armored personnel carriers? to tell them they are not welcome, and has the county sheriff to back him up. ?I don?t want U.N. troops in Lubbock County,? he said.

Tom Head, a graduate of Highland Park High School, has been a county judge since 1999.

Complete Guidelines to Health and Fitness: 40Over40: A New ...

A new survey of 1,000 men aged over 40, commissioned by Eli Lilly and Company Limited (Lilly UK) as part of a new erectile dysfunction
awareness campaign, 40over40, reveals that just over 10% of men in
their early 40s are aware that ED strikes regularly in the fourth decade
even though evidence suggests that 40% of men aged 40 or over have some
form of ED.

Additionally, most men were unaware that erection problems could be a warning sign that they may have a more serious condition; less than a fifth of all the men surveyed knew that ED could be a sign of underlying, organic heart disease or other potentially serious conditions, despite evidence of such a link in 80% of cases (in men of 70). In fact, three times as many survey respondents in their 40s rated hair loss ahead of losing their erections as a major health concern.1

Further, the survey shows that less than one fifth of men have visited their GP in the last 12 months, and that men in their 40s are likely to put off visits to their GP until they consider their symptoms to be long-term or worsening. But these men can be optimistic about finding a solution; 95% of ED cases can now be treated by the healthcare professional once reported.

The survey was commissioned as part of the new ED disease awareness campaign 40over40, from Lilly UK, which has been designed to educate men on the causes of ED and who it affects, and encourage them to seek help. The campaign will launch nationwide on 30 June 2008, when a new website http://www.40over40.com will go live, accompanied by the roll-out of a national TV advertising campaign.

The strapline from the campaign is Talk, Test, Treat, Today (4T), and visitors to the website will be able to download information and advice about ED.

Dr Mark Porter believes GPs should get behind the campaign. "The survey results are interesting because they show us that a significant number of younger men are compromising their sex lives unnecessarily - and may even be endangering their long term health. Sexual fulfilment aside, too few men are aware that their erectile difficulties could be a sign of underlying health problems like smoking related damage, high blood pressure and raised cholesterol levels. I'm hopeful that the 40over40 campaign will really start to tackle some of the misconceptions surrounding ED encouraging more patients to come through the door sooner. As GPs we need to throw our weight behind the campaign and look for ways to proactively ask about ED in our male, 40 plus patients."

Campaign resources include educational literature for patients and HCPs which will be available on http://www.40over40.com website and via Lilly UK as sponsors of the campaign.

- The 40over40 campaign is sponsored by Lilly and was conducted by Opinion Health, and involved interviews with 1013 men aged 40+ and currently living in the UK.

- 71.7% claimed their sex life was sporadic, while 17.4% said their sex life was spontaneous.

- 45.2% stated that an active sex life was important to them, and 28.3% stated that it was very important to them.

- 11.3% aged 40-44 thought ED might affect them in the next 10 years compared to 32.0% aged 40-44 who thought hair loss might affect them in the next 10 years.1

- 16.4% believed underlying disease may be one of the main causes of ED while 26.2% said they didn't know the causes of ED.

- 15.3% of men in the survey have not visited their GP in the last 12 months5 and 45.8% of men in the survey said they are usually prompted to visit the GP when they experience prolonged or worsening symptoms.6

- 24.5% of men use the internet as their main source of information on health.

Akin cancels interview, leaving CNN with an empty chair

Facing a firestorm of criticism over his comments about "legitimate rape," Missouri Rep. Todd Akin canceled a scheduled interview with CNN's Piers Morgan on Monday. And in what's becoming something of a trend on cable news, Morgan opened his primetime show with a shot of Akin's empty chair, calling the embattled Republican Senate candidate a "gutless little twerp" for cancelling the sit-down.

"Congressman, you have an open invitation to join me in that chair whenever you feel up to it," Morgan said. "Because if you don't keep your promise to appear on the show, then you are, what we would call in Britain, a gutless little twerp."

The stunt was almost immediately parodied on Twitter, as the @AkinEmptyChair account was created within minutes of the broadcast.

[Related: Will Todd Akin drop out of Senate race?]

It's not the first time a Republican politician has dodged Morgan. Delaware Republican Christine O'Donnell walked out of a 2011 interview with Morgan after he asked about her views on gay marriage. O'Donnell later called Morgan's line of questioning "borderline creepy."

It's also not the first time the empty interview chair has been used on cable news for dramatic effect. In March, Lawrence O'Donnell (no relation to Christine) grilled an empty chair on MSNBC's "Last Word" when a lawyer for accused Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman abruptly canceled an appearance.

The same week, MSNBC producers went with the empty-chair shot when it appeared that the National Organization for Marriage's Maggie Gallagher failed to show up for a daytime news segment.

It turned out that Gallagher was sent to the wrong studio by MSNBC's own booking department; anchor Thomas Roberts later apologized.

[Also read: Obama on Akin: 'Rape is rape']

Earlier Monday, Buzzfeed reported that Akin was planning to withdraw his Senate candidacy on Tuesday. A senior Republican official cautioned that Akin may still change his mind, however, and Smith cited another source who throws cold water on the speculation. Meanwhile, conservative blogger Erick Erickson and former Mitt Romney foreign policy adviser Richard Grenell both wrote on Twitter that Akin would resign.

In an interview on Mike Huckabee's radio show, Akin apologized for comments he made on Sunday, when he said that victims of "legitimate rape" do not need access to legal abortions because they cannot biologically become pregnant.

But Akin also told Huckabee he wouldn't drop out of the race. "I'm not a quitter," he said.

Kirk Cameron defends Akin: ?I believe he?s a good man?

(NBC/Today)

In the wake of his "legitimate rape" comments, Rep. Todd Akin has found few public supporters. But Akin can count Kirk Cameron as one of them.

Cameron--star of the popular '80s sitcom "Growing Pains" turned evangelical Christian--defended the embattled Missouri Congressman on the fourth hour of the "Today" show on Tuesday.

"I'm not his political strategist, thank God," Cameron, who interviewed Akin for his new religious documentary, "Monumental," told Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford. "Clearly, this is a man who is advocating the sanctity of life through and through. He said he misspoke and he apologized for it. I like to evaluate people based on their entire life, their entire career, and (what) they stand for. He loves his wife, he's got six children. I believe he's a good man. He's now in a very, very difficult spot."

"I've sat down and and actually watched the video," Cameron added. "Watch[ed] it, not just to read some of the transcripts and the quotes."

[Related: Akin releases new campaign ad asking for 'forgiveness']

On Monday, amid a growing chorus of GOP leaders calling for Akin to halt his Senate campaign, the FRC Action PAC released a statement supporting his candidacy.

"This is another case of 'gotcha politics' against a conservative leader," FRC Action PAC president Connie Mackey said. "Todd Akin has a long and distinguished record of defending women, children and families. He has fought against forcing taxpayers to subsidize abortion giant Planned Parenthood, which is the bedrock of Claire McCaskill's base of support. When speaking about the issue of rape, let's not forget the cover-up of statutory rape by Planned Parenthood, which to my knowledge has not been addressed by Senator McCaskill.

[Also read: The story behind Kirk Cameron's sad birthday photo]

"Throughout his twelve years in Congress, Todd Akin has supported legislation that honors all human life. He has opposed the commodification of women in contrast to his opponent, Claire McCaskill, who has a long record of promoting the abortion industry while ignoring how abortion harms women."
